Temporal Lobe ADD - inattentive, irritability, aggressive, dark thoughts, mood instability, and severe impulsivity. Spect Imaging Comparison

Type 5. Limbic ADD - inattentive, chronic low grade depression, negativity, "glass half empty syndrome," low energy, and frequent feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness. Spect Imaging Comparison

Type 6. Ring of Fire ADD - inattentive, extreme distractibility, angry, irritable, overly sensitive, cyclic moodiness, hyperverbal, and extreme opposition. Spect Imaging Comparison

Dr. Amen indicates that that his detailed questionnaires can help to identify these subtypes so that patients can benefit from this information without having a brain scan.

He believes that “Knowing which ADD type you or your child has is critical to establishing an effective treatment program. Treating some types of ADD with traditional treatments will make things much worse. Specifically tailored interventions often lead to quick and dramatic improvement. “
